Playing the first home Championship League fixture since Cross Keys before the COVIT restrictions, supporters' patience was rewarded with a most entertaining match versus Glamorgan Wanderers.
Ystalyfera regular wing and Try scorer Luc Caines opened with the first Try in the 5th minute, the visitors from the Ely area of Cardiff equalising 2 minutes later. Record club points scorer and head coach Gareth James kicked a penalty after 15 minutes, centre Tomos Powell getting the second 'Fera Try in the 24th minute - converted by Gareth - score: 15-7. Both sides played open rugby looking for gaps in their opponents defences, the Wanderers getting their second Try to narrow the 'Fera lead to 3 points. Ystalyfera worked openings however with young full back Kian Abraham crossing for the third Try, Gareth converting for a half time score 22-12.
In the second period the visitors started at pace and quickly restored the lead to a slim three points with a Try and conversion 22-19. However Ystalyfera were not going to lose the opportunity of a win and another penalty, plus a push over Try by No8 Stephan "saus" Jones, with a further Gareth James conversion saw Ystalyfera get their first ever Championship "Bonus point" victory. Big effort was noticalble from all the players and substitutes, Daniel Williams making his 100th appearance. Final score 32-19 and 'Fera in 6th place.
